Our Women’s Health Initiative in the past has focused on areas including women’s breast care, cervical care, and nutrition in the LGBTQ community.  As a foundation we have sought out funding sources to support existing programs to ensure they included or continued to include LGBTQ women.  Fortunately, many of these services have grown in local community clinics and organizations, however, there are other areas of women’s health that are still lacking for women.  One of the areas of note is addiction and sobriety for women, specifically women who identify as lesbian.

Support Groups for Women who Identify as Lesbian

The Human Dignity Foundation is partnering with Served Up Sober to develop additional groups for the LGBTQ community.  Our first group will be a collective that addresses and supports women who identify as lesbian and their work toward sobriety. Additional topics include relationships, domestic violence, co-dependency, and life-skills to maintain a healthy lifestyle after addiction.  Funding for this project will support facilitation of the groups by trained professionals.  During the pandemic and socializing restrictions, groups will continue to take place online until it is safe to return to an in-person setting.
