We are spearheading the creation of a permanent
financial reservoir for San Diego's gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender
community. Funds we raise provide income for San Diego Human Dignity
Foundation and increase the monies available for future grants.
Whether you establish a fund as endowed or non-endowed
is your choice. Endowments are permanent funds where only portions
of earnings are available for granting. Non-endowments are funds
where both earnings and principal are available for granting.
Where does the money come from?
Funding comes from donors in a variety of ways,
from those who contribute by writing a check for a one-time donation
to those making a planned gift that preserves their wealth or provides
for future income. The donor or the Board of Directors may designate
gifts, bequests, or proceeds from fundraising, to be placed in the
Endowment Fund or any other fund of the Foundation. The endowment
fund has been established as an Irrevocable Trust and funds shall
be deposited and maintained in the name of the Trust in banking,
investment, or other accounts as directed the directors from time
to time.
Where does the money go?
The Endowment Fund has been established in such
a way as to ensure that only earnings from the endowment, after
allowing for growth to compensate for inflation and for expenses
of administering the fund, may be distributed annually. The distributions
are in the form of grants to specific programs or projects that
support wellness and well being for San Diego's lesbian, gay, bisexual
and transgender community.
