The Breast Cancer Alliance United to Support and Educate (BCAUSE) Fund at the San Diego Human Dignity Foundation is now accepting grant applications for innovative projects in the area of breast cancer education, support and outreach targeting the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community in San Diego County.
The BCAUSE Fund was established by a group of women that were alarmed by the research that suggests that lesbians may be at a greater risk of developing breast cancer than heterosexual women due to the prevalence of certain risk factors as well as reduced rates for self and clinical breast exams and mammograms.
Through its grants, BCAUSE Fund aims to fund vital breast cancer awareness, education and prevention programs that help the LGBT community in San Diego County.
