San Diego Human Dignity Foundation's 11th anniversary
gala was held on May 5, 2007 at the historic NTC
Promenade in Point Loma.
Over the last eleven years, SDHDF, with the help of our funding
partners, has awarded nearly $770,000 in grants to support LGBT
nonprofit organizations in San Diego that provide essential services
to the LGBT community.
Our annual gala supports these efforts, along with SDHDF's
mission to create a permanent endowment to meet the long-term needs
of our evolving community.
Our VIP Reception
This year's VIP reception featured a hosted bar, with specialty
drinks, including the West Coast premiere of Tommy Bahama Rum and JC
Cognac! Guests enjoyed the music of a jazz ensemble as they sampled delicious
hors d'ouvres.
Our Main Event
The main event was held outside, surrounded by palm trees around
the beautiful Luce Court fountain. Food stations by the French
Gourmet offered a tantalizing array of dinner choices. Guests danced to
music throughout the evening by Sue Palmer and her jazz orchestra
and also bided on our spectacular live and silent auction items.
Havana Nights!
The Havana Nights dance party following the main
event featured DJ Chris Cox, dance party diva Jeanie
Tracy and enough lights and lasers to keep guests dancing until 2am! DJ
Chris Cox has had 40 Billboard dance chart number ones and was
nominated for a Grammy in 2004 for his production work with Cher.
Grammy winner Jeanie Tracy, whose many top hits include "Keep the
Party Jumping," "The Power," with Rosabel, and "Cha Cha Heels," has
an amazing voice that has been heard on dance floors around the
country, in movies, TV, theatre and countless recordings - solo and
with artists like Barbara Streisand, Celine Dion, and Aretha
Franklin.
