David J. Miles,
Ph.D., President
David earned his Ph.D. in Molecular and Cellular Biology from the University of Maryland in 1990. He then moved to San Diego as a Scripps Research Institute post-doctoral fellow. In 1991, he joined Invitrogen Corporation where he managed key teams and departments including technical support, quality assurance, manufacturing, contract research, and finally product marketing. In 2001, David retired as business unit director to attend the California School of Culinary Arts, and become a Cordon Bleu chef. With this new training, he worked for Father Joe’s Villages serving as a cook and as the dedicated chef for the teenage residents of the Toussant Academy. He joined the Board in 2005. |

Amy V. Snyder,
Vice President of Development
Amy relocated to San Diego after an almost 20 year career as a management consultant. She was a partner at two international management consulting firms where she focused on strategic transformation and large-scale performance improvement, primarily serving senior executives of Fortune 500 companies in the telecommunications and high technology sectors. She received a B.S. in engineering from Princeton University magna cum laude, and an M.B.A. from Stanford University. She has served on several advisory and non-profit boards, including Gays & Lesbian Advocates and Defenders during the landmark Massachusetts gay marriage lawsuit, and continues to do independent consulting. She joined the Board in 2006. |

Warner R. Broaddus,
Secretary
Warner previously was Vice President, General Counsel & Secretary for Ligand Pharmaceuticals. Prior
to working for Ligand Pharmaceuticals, he was General Counsel for Invitrogen Corporation, where he was employed from 1994 to 2000. Before his career as an attorney, Warner was a quantitative analyst from 1986 to 1990 for Morgan Stanley and UBS Securities in New York. Warner holds a B.S. from the University of Virginia and a J.D. from the University of San Diego where he was a co-founder of the pro bono legal services program at the law school. He is a member of the BIO General Counsels' Committee, the Licensing Executives Society, the Ethics Officer Association and the San Diego County Bar Association. He joined the Board in 2004. |

Randall D. Clark, CPA,
Treasurer
Randy is a Family Office Executive for Melcher Investment Company. Randy graduated from the University of Missouri in 1975, and co-founded a CPA firm in Kansas City, MO that was acquired in 1998. Randy serves on the Board of two private charitable foundations. Randy joined the Board in 2003 and serves as Treasurer. |

L. Craig Conwell
Craig is a Financial Advisor and Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor with Merrill Lynch. Craig graduated from the University of South Florida in 1982, and moved to San Diego in 1986. Prior to joining Merrill Lynch, Craig worked in the health insurance industry in sales, underwriting and executive management roles for over twenty years. At Merrill Lynch, Craig serves as a key member of San Diego's LGBT Financial Services Team, and is an active member of the firm's National LGBT Professional Network and the San Diego Complex Diversity Council. He joined the Board in 2007. |

Clifford Schireson
Cliff is co-head of the Brandes Fixed Income Group at Brandes Investment Partners, an independent investment advisory firm, and is a member of the Fixed Income Investment Committee. He is also Director-Institutional Services, and these responsibilities involve developing and servicing relationships with institutional investment consultants and advisors. Before joining Brandes, Cliff was a managing director at an international investment advisor in New York City, where he was a senior relationship manager and fixed income product specialist. Previously, he was a portfolio manager at a mezzanine and private equity fund. Prior to that Cliff worked in corporate finance, specializing in private placements of debt and other high yield securities with institutional investors. He earned his AB in economics from Stanford University in 1975 and his MBA from Harvard Business School in 1977. Cliff has over 30 years of Stanford volunteer fund-raising and alumni relations experience. Cliff joined the board in 2007. |

Robert Wright, Vice President of Marketing
Robert is a leading San Diego interior designer and principal of Bast/Wright Interiors, Inc. He is past national board president of the American Society of Interior Designers, and he has been involved in leadership roles with ASID for over a decade. Very active in community affairs, Robert is chair of the Interior Design Advisory Council at San Diego State University and has been involved with the Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS. He is a widely published designer, with work featured in San Diego Home/Garden Lifestyles and Interior Design magazines. Robert also has been honored with numerous awards, including the ASID San Diego Chapter Design Excellence Award and the Ethel M. Siegelman Memorial Award for Outstanding Chapter Member. He joined the board in 2007. |

Tony
Freeman, Executive Director
Tony moved to San Diego from Denver in July of 1996 with his partner of 14 years, Stephen Keiley. Stephen is an elementary teacher at the Monarch School in San Diego. They live in the Allied Gardens/San Carlos area with their 11-year-old son, Mario.
Tony served as Senior Pastor of MCC San Diego from August 1996 to March 2006.
He also managed a corporate giving program and lead the establishment of a new corporate foundation with a mission to serve at-risk children and youth.
Tony has been actively involved in the community serving on local boards and committees ranging from alcohol and drug treatment facilities to AIDS organizations.
He has received several awards for his work in our community, including
The NickY’s Governor’s Award, Champion of Pride award, and the “Visionary” award from the Center for his leadership in the establishment of the LGBT
homeless youth sheltering project. Tony joined the SDHDF staff in August
2007 as Executive Director. |

Stacie Freasier,
Operations Manager
Stacie is a native Texan who moved from Austin to San
Diego in 2003 to pursue a career in nonprofit management. She received
her B.A. in Sociology from the University of Texas and is currently a
graduate student in the Nonprofit Leadership and Management Master's
Program at the University of San Diego. Stacie has served in both
volunteer and employment capacities for several nonprofit organizations,
including the San Diego State University Foundation, Planned Parenthood,
the National Organization for Women, and the University of California,
San Diego. She joined the SDHDF staff in October 2007.
